Hi there! My name is Steven, and in 2025, I will be entering my third year of studying Business and Film at QUT. I am delighted to join the Elevate team as Welfare Officer – a progressive team focused on the wellbeing of QUT students.
At QUT, I currently serve as the Social Community Officer for a volunteer club called ‘Big Lift,’ where we once travelled to Blackbutt, west of Brisbane, to help farmers organise an avocado festival. I acted as a translator for the entire club when the bus driver couldn’t speak English, purchased food for all members during our long road trip, and planned numerous free events for the club. Most importantly, I take great joy in seeing people smile.
I am also the Secretary of a business club called ‘BESTies,’ where we have organised various activities, inviting professionals to deliver workshops, networking sessions, and talks at our university. I joined these clubs with the aim of supporting them in providing more welfare opportunities for students.
In 2025, to further enhance student life at QUT, I will continue the Guild’s welfare activities, such as free weekly yoga classes, regular workshops, and more. Elevate will also advocate for improving the policy on late assignment submissions, allowing students more time to submit work and still pass. We will further improve governance by using student feedback for continuous enhancement.
I am not running for this position to score political points; I am genuinely committed to dedicating the time and effort needed to work with the QUT Guild to improve student welfare. I am confident that I can achieve this!
