Hello everyone. My name is Katie, and I am running for the position of Vice President (Secretary) of the Guild. I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to our community and improve student life at QUT.
While I do not adhere to a specific political stance, I believe strongly in democracy and freedom as the foundations of personal and collective growth, ensuring that every student’s voice is heard and respected.
I am particularly concerned about the impact of social and health issues on student well-being, especially for women and LGBTQ+ individuals. Addressing these concerns is essential to creating a more inclusive and supportive campus environment.
If elected, I will prioritise to make sure that every student feels heard and supported.
My plans include:
- Enhancing Communication: Creating new channels for open dialogue between students and the Guild, making it easier to share concerns and ideas.
- Expanding Support Services: Improving access to mental health resources and other essential services.
- Promoting Inclusivity: Supporting initiatives that cater to the diverse interests and needs of all students, fostering a stronger sense of belonging.
This election is a pivotal moment for shaping the future of the Guild and student life at QUT. The Guild plays a vital role at QUT by actively listening to student concerns and developing strategies to address them.
