I am Elowyn Gampe, one of Left Action Free Palestine’s CIESJ councillor nominees and an NUS nominee.
Left Action Free Palestine! is a left-wing activist ticket for the QUT Guild. The QUT Guild is your student union and highest student representative body. Your union is meant to fight for your rights as a student and fight on issues students care about. For the last year, I and my fellow Left Action Free Palestine! candidates have been organising activism on and off campus for a variety of important issues. From the UQ Gaza solidarity camp and the QUT Special General Meeting for Palestine to protest racism and showing solidarity to unions getting attacked by the government.
Left Action Free Palestine! is a ticket run by socialists and pro-Palestine activists. We want to fight every injustice and that comes from this system which puts profit before people.
We are in the midst of a genocide: backed by the Labor government and universities like QUT who have direct ties to companies involved in the genocide in Gaza. Students should vote for Left Action Free Palestine! because we stand for a student union that fights on issues students care about. We look at how students fought injustices in the past like the Vietnam war and South African Apartheid. It was right for student unions to take a position on the bigger issues and fight. The student union fights for the interests of students and it is in the interest of students to not have to live in a society full of apartheid and war.
We stand proudly in the tradition of militant student unionism and taking a stand for what is right and fighting for a better world today. Vote 1 Left Action Free Palestine!
