My name is Eden, and I am a second-year Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology)/Bachelor of Business student at QUT. I am excited to be running for the role of Welfare Officer at the QUT Guild. As a dedicated advocate for student well-being, my goal is to ensure every student feels supported, valued, and empowered throughout their time at QUT.

Students today are grappling with a cost-of-living crisis, making it harder than ever to focus on their studies while juggling multiple part-time jobs to make ends meet. This constant financial strain is compounded by the struggle to find relevant employment upon graduating. I believe the Guild has not responded adequately to these challenges, and I am determined to change that.

With your support, I will introduce real, practical solutions that directly address the financial pressures students face. I plan to offer affordable meals at BotBar and GroveBar, making everyday essentials more accessible. Additionally, I will advocate for reduced parking costs at QUT, a major expense for many students. To further alleviate financial burdens, I will introduce means-tested bursaries to provide targeted assistance to those who need it most.

I will also support clubs and societies by fully funding welfare officer training, ensuring they can address women’s concerns within their communities.

I will expand the food pantry and establish a community kitchen to provide free meals for students, ensuring that no one goes hungry while pursuing their education. In addition, I will introduce free health and wellness classes to promote mental and physical well-being.

The Guild has the potential to significantly improve students’ lives, but it requires strong, proactive leadership. By voting for Revive, you are voting for a Guild that will prioritise your well-being and deliver meaningful change. Together, we can create a stronger Guild and a better future for all QUT students.
