Chloe Dickinson: Revive candidate for Education Officer & NUS Delegate

Glass invited all Guild election candidates to submit a statement explaining why they are running and why they deserve your vote. This is your chance to hear directly from those who want to represent you—so take a moment to get to know their priorities and visions for the future.

Voting opens on Monday, 21st October 2024. You can check out the rest of the candidate statements here.

My name is Chloe, and I am a second year Bachelor of Education (Primary) student at QUT.

As the candidate for Education Officer with Revive, I am committed to making the Guild a stronger voice for students’ academic and campus needs. The Guild’s responsibility is to ensure that students are properly supported and that our education experience is constantly improving.

One of my key priorities is creating an Academic Advocacy Network, a committee dedicated to working with faculty clubs and student representatives to address academic issues directly. This network will amplify student voices, ensuring that concerns are heard and acted upon at all levels of the university. Whether it’s about course structure, assessment fairness, or resources, the Guild will work harder to advocate for students in every faculty.

Beyond academics, stable governance and transparency are crucial. The current Guild has been unstable, and students deserve better. We will ensure that the Guild is accountable to students and that decision-making processes are clear and transparent.

I will advocate for practical improvements to campus life. We will reroute QUT shuttles to the top of Kelvin Grove campus, making it easier for students to access their classes and services. We’ll also lobby Brisbane City Council to extend the Brisbane Metro service to Gardens Point, making public transport more accessible for QUT students across the city.

Finally, I’m dedicated to building a community of young, educated men and women at QUT by hosting regular professional development and networking events.

Students deserve a Guild that works for them both academically and beyond. By voting for Revive, you’re supporting a team that is committed to improving your education experience, providing strong leadership, and making real changes to campus life. Together, we can build a better future for QUT students.
